Information and Communication
Transmission Magazine is developed through a collaborative consultation and education process called 'Drawing Them In'. Hepatitis NSW team members deliver hepatitis C awareness education to hepatitis C affected communities. The participants are then guided through the development of characters and a story that is relevant to 'people like them', using their new knowledge.
Transmission Magazine is developed with diverse communities, including people who are currently incarcerated, people who inject drugs, youth, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women, migrants, etc. The publication is delivered to organisational and individual subscribers across NSW, including to people living with hepatitis C and people who are currently incarcerated.
Transmission Magazine readers and survey respondents consistently report that the publication has increased their knowledge about hepatitis C and prompted them to take action on their health.
The Champion has recently moved to a Mail Chip profile with a change is design and move towards a stronger differentiation between the content in the Community and Professional editions..
Open and click rates are healthy but are in flux while the new format and mailing list settle down.
The Champion is compiled monthly from several short articles either written specifically by staff, volunteers or partner organisations, or sourced from other online sources.
Two versions are produced, one specifically for the viral hepatitis community and those working within the relevent field.
Important information, advice and advocacy is made available in a timely, accessible and useful manner.
