Why Is This Important?

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) or Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDS) are preventable, treatable, and some even cured. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) states that prevention and care of HIV/STD aims to eliminate the number of cases and deaths due to STDs. Through testing, we can identify what population are being affected at greater rates. This will allow us to take a look at the imbalance or disparities in STI rates and create better health outcomes for those populations.

Why Is This Important?

What We Do

Communicable Disease (CD) is any disease that is reportable and transmissible. At Cabarrus Health Alliance we work closely with doctors' offices and hospitals in order to track and follow up on food born illness or any diseases coming from the bite of mosquitoes, ticks and other vectors.

Who We Serve

At Cabarrus Health Alliance's Communicable Disease clinic, we serve all people that have been in contact with a communicable disease or are having symptoms. We work with the individual to follow up and trace back to the source of the illness or infection.

How We Impact

The Communicable Disease Program is able to track and stop the spread of infection or any other illness that is categorized as a communicable disease.
