Reducing unintentional opioid-overdose fatalities is the primary goal of the Chittenden County Opioid Alliance. We seek to help save lives and reduce the burden of opioids in our community.
The number one indicator of a fatal overdose is a prior non-fatal overdose. Nearly 1 in 10 die within two years after an initial non-fatal overdose. Reducing the number of non-fatal overdoses in Chittenden County can help reduce the number of fatal overdoses, and thus save lives.
Seamless transitions from one care setting to the next (i.e. hub to spoke) are necessary to ensure coordination and consistency of treatment, and to maximize patient experience.
