Story Behind the Curve

Ocean City is a resort town with seasonal employment which can cause families difficulties. Many families in Worcester County live pay check to pay check or in poverty. The LMB and partnering agencies, continue to collaborate in providing services necessary to those in need. The Community Resource events have been well received by the community and allows individuals to seek help while accessing services in one location.

Hurricane Sandy hit in 2013 and led to many individuals being homeless on the lower shore. These numbers have improved over the last few years through the work of the Continuum of Care (CoC) and partnering agencies.

The LMB actively participates in efforts of keeping children in the community by serving on committees, including the Multi-Disciplinary Team and Local Care Team; to assist caregivers and agencies identifying what things are going well, discuss areas of concern, identify potentioal resources, and identify steps to be taken to help families problem solve.

A group of professionals have been identified to review the Youth Risk Behavior Survey results for Worcester COunty. This group has done research on the story behind the baseline. THe LMB and Health Department will utilize this data for future planning.
