During our first year, we developed an internal Health Literacy committee. As we worked on the goals of this workgroup, we realized that we as a Health Department could ensure health care services are culturally and linguistically appropriate first at an internal level. The development of an interal Health Literacy committee will allow the Health Department to meet the goals of this workgroup and to create a Health Literacy toolkit for internal and external use.
