What We Do

The purpose of the West Nile virus program in the Panhandle is to develop and implement effective surveillance, prevention, and control of arboviruses that occur or are imported into Nebraska.

How We Impact

The West Nile virus program hopes to conduct timely investigations of human contracted West Nile, conduct weekly mosquito trapping and collection for testing, educate horse owners and local veterinarians on the importance of West Nile virus horse vaccinations, provide community outreach and public education programs focused on personal protection and residential source reduction, and distribute information on travel related arboviruses.
