Family Science Night is designed to encourage family engagement at underperforming elementary schools across the community. The Mayborn Museum Complex opens their doors to teachers, administrators, students and their families to provide a neutral space to interact and learn! The main goal for Family Science Night is to educate parents and guardians about informal learning opportunities that are right here in the Waco community. It also allows the teachers and administrators to engage with the families of students. Family Science Night developed through a partnership with Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum Complex and the Prosper Waco backbone.
Who We Serve
Participating schools and grade level of students are selected based on need and desire to participate. Family engagement is essential in the education system and something that Mayborn Museum Complex is able to provide to the public on a daily basis.
How We Impact
By providing an informal learning environment that brings together both families and school staff, the Mayborn Museum Complex hopes to see continued growth and curiosity for learning, while the school staff hope to see informal learning opportunities translate into academic success in the classroom.
