Story Behind the Curve

Restricting access for youth to tobacco and alcohol is one strategy that works to help prevent youth substance misuse. The BRHD trains off premise store employees on Utah laws for purchasing tobacco and alcohol. This includes education on checking IDs and the penalties for providing tobacco or alcohol to a minor. Number of retailers trained may vary for half year depending on employee turnover at retailer outlets.
