Story Behind the Curve
Like many small communities, Wayne County's population is declining. This is attributed to a variety of factors; retirees moving closer to their adult children, high school students moving away to college and not returning, and individuals pursuing higher-wage jobs in larger communities. However, it is our mission to reverse this trend by investing in our community through quality of place efforts, attracting a variety of employers, increasing the number of students that attend our local colleges, improving the housing stock, and more.
Partners
Forward Wayne County's work is not possible without the help of a variety of partners. These partners include Reid Health, K-12 schools, early childhood educators, employers, county and city officials, the county economic development center, and more.
