Story Behind the Curve

Eating vegetables provides health benefits. People who eat more vegetables and fruits as part of an overall healthy diet are likely to have a reduced risk of some chronic diseases. Vegetables provide nutrients vital for health and maintenance of your body. The amount of vegetables you need depends on your age, sex, and level of physical activity. Recommended daily amounts is 2-3 cups. In general, 1 cup of raw cooked vegetables or vegetable juice, or 2 cups of raw leafy greens can be considered 1 cup.

This indicator shows the percentage of adults who report they have consumed 3 or more cups of vegetables per day.
