Story Behind the Curve

Unintentional injuries are a leading cause of death for Americans of all ages, regardless of gender, race, or economic status. Major categories of unintentional injuries include motor vehicle collisons, poisonings, and falls. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approximately 40 deaths per 100,000 population occur each year due to unintentional injuries.

This indicator shows the age-adjusted death rate per 100,000 population due to unintentional injuries.
