Description: Any mental illness (AMI) is defined as having a diagnosable mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder, other than a developmental or substance use disorder, assessed by the Mental Health Surveillance Study (MHSS) Structured Clinical Interview for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder

Notes: This number represents a model-based prevalence estimate calculated from the NSDUH face-to-face interviews.  These interviews are conducted with non-institutionalized residents of households during the indicated 2 years; first of the 2 year timeframe is represented in graph. I.E. 2013 = 2013-2014.
