Strategy
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the most effective treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) [1]
- Hubs offer the treatment intensity and staff expertise that some people require at the beginning of their recovery, at points during their recovery, or all throughout their recovery [2]
- Hubs provide daily medication and therapeutic support [2]
- Patients receiving buprenorphine or vivitrol may move back and forth between Hub and Spoke settings over time, as their treatment needs change [2]
- Hubs offer all elements of Medication Assisted Treatment, including assessment, medication dispensing, individual and group counseling, and more [2]
- Development and implementation of a hub-and-spoke system of care has contributed substantially to improvements in opioid agonist treatment capacity in Vermont [3]
- Develop materials to assist clinicians in explaining the typical course of MAT and positive and negative considerations of medication termination and post-MAT continuing care [4]
- Review and revise the patient placement instruments to improve placement of individuals in the Hub and Spoke system [5]
- Ensure there are enough waivered providers and clinicians in the county to meet the treatment demand
