Definition: Binge use of alcohol contributes to a wide range of injuries and other unintended consequences, and is defined as having consumed five or more drinks of alcohol in a row on at least one day in the past 30 days for males or four or more drinks for females.

Story Behind the Curve
Binge use of alcohol contributes to a wide range of injuries and other unintended consequences, and is defined as having consumed five or more drinks of alcohol in a row on at least one day in the past 30 days for males or four or more drinks for females. The prevalence of binge drinking in VT has remained relatively flat and slightly higher than national rates, with rates of 19.7% in VT and 17.4% nationally in 2017. Binge drinking in Windsor county has been slightly lower than the state over the past five years (16% in 2016).
