Definition: Binge use of alcohol contributes to a wide range of injuries and other unintended consequences, and is defined as having consumed five or more drinks of alcohol in a row on at least one day in the past 30 days for males or four or more drinks for females.

Story Behind the Curve
Binge use of alcohol contributes to a wide range of injuries and other unintended consequences, and is defined as having consumed five or more drinks of alcohol in a row on at least one day in the past 30 days for males or four or more drinks for females. The prevalence of binge drinking in NH remained relatively flat and slightly higher than national rates between 2013-2015. Rates in NH and nationally increased the past two years, with a prevalence of 21.4% in NH and 17.4% nationally in 2017. The Upper Valley Public Health Region of NH has lower rates of bringe drinking compared to the state, (13.3% in 2015).
