Data Description
Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables may help reduce the risk of many diseases, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and some cancers. Fruits and veggies are rich in vitamins and minerals that provide energy bodies need. Most vegetables are naturally low in fat and calories. Vegetables are important sources of many nutrients, including potassium, dietary fiber, folate (folic acid), vitamin A, and vitamin C.
Poverty, lack of access to stores selling fresh fruits and vegetables, and lack of knowledge of how to prepare them may prevent people from consuming the amount they need to get these benefits.
