Story Behind the Curve
The percentage of children living in poverty in Talbot County continues to remain at unacceptably high levels. Coupled with the steady rise of children qualifying for Free and Reduced Meals within the school system, it is clear that the children in Talbot are impacted.
According to the US Census Bureau's American Community Survey in 2015 39.3% of Single Parent Households and 55.8% of Female Head of Households with children under age 5 are experiencing poverty.
Talbot County does have a higher cost of living including rent prices and food prices.
