The percent of children enrolled in the public school system who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence or who are awaiting foster-care placement.
Homeless figures generally increase during the course of the school year. This data is a snapshot for the percent of students who have brought back their homeless affidavit by September 30th. During the 17-18 school year, the September 30th number was 69, but by May 1st KCPS had 113 homeless affidavits from students. That was 5.6% of the student population.
