A majority of total students in Chittenden County are considered proficient in reading by Grade 3. When you aggregate the data by free and reduced lunch status differences in proficiency appear. Note on Methodology
The Smarter Balanced Assessment, replaced Vermont’s previous assessment test, the NECAP, in 2015. The new assessment of English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics asks students to demonstrate and apply their knowledge and skills in areas such as critical thinking, analytical writing, and problem solving. Due to these changes, the results cannot be compared to prior results as these are different tests measuring different standards.
