Story Behind the Curve
The percentage of Vermonters age 1-17 with commercial insurance who received recommended and effective preventive care decreased very slightly between 2012 and 2013.
Increasing access to preventive health services means that Vermonters are receiving support, resources, and care upstream, in order to reduce more costly and more serious health problems down the line.
This measure is a composite from the All Payer Claims database; it is measured consistently across all insurers. The data displayed here includes both well child and adolescent well care visits for the commercially insured pediatric population. As Vermont moves forward with the Blueprint for Health program and its integrated patient centered medical homes and community health team model of care, this data can be an indicator of our success.
