Story Behind the Curve

  • "People with mental conditions" are defined as Community Rehabilitation and Treatment (CRT) clients enrolled at designated agencies. CRT is a community program reserved for adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • The substantial change between SFY 2011 and more recent years was due a substantial portion of missing data in SFY 2011, where 34% of cases were missing living arrangements. SFY 2012 and SFY 2013 have 7-8% of cases missing data.
  • 14.2% of all CRT clients are reported as living in residential or group facilities at the end of the fiscal year.

Notes on Methodology

  • "People with mental conditions" are defined as Community Rehabilitation and Treatment (CRT) clients enrolled at designated agencies. CRT is a community program reserved for adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • CRT program enrollments were used to define the total population of CRT clients and Monthly Service Report (MSR) data were used to identify their last reported residential arrangement in the fiscal year. Both data points are submitted to the Department of Mental Health by Designated Agencies.
  • "Living in Residential or Group Facilities" is defined as clients reported living in residential care homes, group homes, or other residential settings or placements.
  • Y-axis in the chart is adjusted to reflect the approximate total CRT population.
