What is this Indicator?

In 2011 Tahoe Forest Hospital District (TFHD) commissioned a Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) study among its adult community using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) BRFSS tool. The BRFSS is a national initiative, headed by the CDC that assesses the health status and risk factors among U.S. citizens.

This indicator tracks respondents who reported drinking an alcoholic beverage within the past 30 days, who were then asked "During the past 30 days, how often did you drink any alcoholic beverage: 1-3 times per month, 1-2 times per week, 3-6 times per week, or daily?" In 2014 and 2017, Q28 asked "how many days per month did you have at least one drink of any alcoholic beverage? Less than 7, 7-14, 15-21, or more than 21." 2014 data shows percentage responding "15-21" or "more than 21".

Story Behind the Curve

IN 2011, 33.2% of TFHD adults surveyed reported drinking 3-6 times per week, compared with 18.6% of US adults.
