Story Behind the Curve

We track this measure to understand the number of accommodations coming in, any identifiable trends, as well as the cost impact to the department.

Staff can submit a request for a reasonable accommodation at any time. These requests are sent directly to the Department of Human Resources (DHR) and reviewed by the Reasonable Accommodation Committee (RAC). If a reasonable accommodation requires a worksite adjustment or any special equipment, DHR will outreach to the Operations Unit to facilitate obtaining on behalf of the employee. Due to the unpredictable nature of these requests and the cost, we feel tracking them is beneficial to the department.
