According to the CDC tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death. Worldwide, tobacco use causes more than 7 million deaths per year, including 480,000 deaths per year in the United States. There are also over 16 million Americans living with a disease caused by smoking. The CDC also reports that about 68% of current smokers want to quit smoking. “Way to Quit” is a statewide program that helps individuals quit smoking. By increasing the number of individuals that utilize “Way to Quit” services more adults will quite and that will reduce the cost to society of smoking, and help individuals live a longer healthier life.
