One of NCCHW's key strategies is to impact policies through advocacy activities and engagement. Key activities are tracked across our initiatives.

The NCCHW engages in advocacy work to further health equity across the state and strengthen the provision of evidence-based programs and community-driven solutions.
Examples of our advocacy and policy work include the following:
- Contributing to white papers on Medicaid reform and social determinants of health screening tools released by NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS);
- Supporting NCDHHS in incorporating Results-based Accountability (RBA) into Community Health Assessment and Improvement Plans and State of the County Health Reports through recognizing RBA as an evidence-based intervention for prioritizing strategies and the Clear Impact Scorecard an effective program management and evaluation tool;
- Serving on the NC Institute of Medicine Accountable Care Communities Taskforce and contributing to "Partnering to Improve Health: Developing Accountable Care Communities in North Carolina";
- Leading the evaluation of the Mothering Asheville Movement and supporting the integration of doula services into value-based care proposed by Healthy Blue (Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina);
- Submitting comments to the NC Early Childhood Action Plan and Healthy People 2030 indicators selection process;
