Notes on Methodology
- The annual reported rate captures activity during the previous calendar year.
- This is a Healthcare Effectiveness & Data Information Set (HEDIS) administrative measure.
- As of 2014, DVHA’s rates only include only Medicaid Primary beneficiaries in HEDIS administrative measures.
- This measure was added to the adult core set in 2017.
- HEDIS benchmarks are not available for the FUM measure for the age range of 18 & older.
Story Behind the Curve
The percentage of emergency department (ED) visits for members 18 years of age and older with a principal diagnosis of mental illness, who had a follow up visit for mental illness.
Two rates are reported:
- The percentage of ED visits for which the member received follow-up within 7 days of the ED visit
- The percentage of ED visits for which the member received follow-up within 30 days of the ED visit
