We were able to connect a significant number of youth to education or workforce programming and return a few more to work or school. However, the numbers were not as high as they could have been. Despite available slots (and potential funding support) in some of the programs, the public transportation system in South County did not meet the needs of the community and was undergoing a major revamp during FY19. Given this major hurdle, we were unable to engage all identified and interested youth with opportunities due to a lack of transportation. While we are no longer funding this program in FY20 we anticipate that these numbers will improve as our South County collaborative group was able to partner with the County's Department of Transportation to launch a new transportation service in South County in August 2019 that will better meet resident needs.
