Story Behind the Curve

Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Community Health team helps to organize, and in many cases directly provides trainings to community members and to professional staff of community organizations in evidence-based approaches to help prevent harm from substance misuse and mental illness.  Specifically, Community Health team members train or organize trainings for community partners in use of naloxone as an opioid overdose medication; NAMI-NH's CONNECT Suicide Prevention approach; Mental Health First Aid; and Trauma-Informed approaches to child care services.  Growing the professional capacities of regional professionals and community members to identify and respond to these issues is a critical part of creating a regional safety net and early identification system to respond compassionately and effectively to persons in need.
