Definition: Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Community Health team assists comunity substance use prevention coalitions to assess the prevnetion needs and assets of the communities they serve. These assessments range from broad 'community surveys' and 'Youth risk Behavior Surveys' that assess attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors related to alcohol and other drugs and provide baseline information to inform community strategies. Other assessments may be more localized or project specific, such as holding focus groups with occupants of a supported housing project to understand what supports they need to remain housed while living with significant health conditions.
