Story Behind the Curve
In a typical year, Macomb County sees 5-10 cases of Hepatitis A. To combat the outbreak in southeastern Michigan, MCHD has increased hepatitis A vaccine outreach and education. The graph above highlights the increases - in 2014, 2015 and 2016 on average 650 doses of hepatitis A vaccine were provided to adults. In 2017 that number jumped to 4524 doses of hepatitis A, an increase of more than 600% since 2014.
