Story Behind the Curve

The average monthly caseload for Reach Up has been declining from 5,105 cases in FY 2012 to 3,266 cases in FY 2017, a 36% reduction.

 

Strategy

In addition to regular Reach Up cases, we have:

Post Secondary Education Program - Reach Up participants enrolled in college programs

Reach Ahead - helps families transition from Reach Up and the Post Secondary Education program to work. Participants may receive the following benefits for 24 months:

  • Child Care Subsidy
  • Supports to help them keep a job ( e.g., help pay for care repairs)
  • A cash benefit to buy food

Reach First - helps families who meet the eligibility requirements for Reach Up but will likely be self-sufficient in 4 months or less

The types of families on the Reach Up caseload in FFY 2017 include:

  • Post Secondary Education - 78
  • Reach Ahead - 579
  • Two Adults (one not able to work) - 93
  • Two Able-To-Work Adults - 248
  • Single Adult - 2,203 
  • Child Only - Adult not on Reach Up - 1,391
  • Reach First - 65
