Notes on Methodology

The wording for this question changed starting in 2021. The 2020 survey asked how many specialists a respondent had "seen". Starting in 2021 the survey asks how many specialists a respondent has "talked to" in the last 6 months. This change allows respondents to incorporate video and phone visits.

Story Behind the Curve

Please see note above about the language change associated with the question starting in the 2021 survey tool. A high percentage of survey respondents who access specialist care indicate that they talked to 1 or more specialists. The data shows an increase starting in 2021 when the wording of the question more logically incorporated video and telephone visits.
