Approximately 56,000 Californian adults age 65 or older (1%) were uninsured in 2019.1 Approximately 27,000 (48%) of those who are uninsured would have gained Medi-Cal coverage under Governor Newsom's January 2020 proposal to expand full-scope Medi-Cal eligibility for seniors regardless of immigration status.2
