Story Behind the Curve
The relationship of having transportation to escaping poverty has been well established. For example, see this New York Times article.
A limitation of the data reported here is that it does not include non-workers, individuals who may not work because of lack of access to transportation. In other words, this data should be seen as an underestimation of the number of individuals with no vehicle available to them.
Note: also available is data on the % of workers using public transportation (5.0% in Story County, 2021, see Table DP03, Selected Economic Characteristics).
