Story Behind the Curve
Despite a growing population and economy, to meet our energy goals, total energy use will need to decline through increased efficiency and conservation. However, electricity use will increase with more use of heat pumps as primary heating sources and the use of electric vehicles. Because those choices are powered by electricity, and electricity is three to four times more efficient compared to fossil fuels, overall energy use will decrease both regionally and statewide.
Why Is This Important?
Northwest Region residents and businesses can adjust their consumption by getting to know their electric usage and choosing more energy efficient devices and appliances.
