Definition
Story Behind the Curve
Dental Sealants are protective coatings that are applied on the biting surface of the molar teeth. They can reduce dental decay by 60-80%. It is the most effective preventive dental service that children can recieve. In 2015-2016, 56.2% of Nebraska children had at least one sealant on a permanent tooth. This is above the national average of 32%. However, 100% of children should have access to these vital services and rural children (48.6%) recieve less than urban children (60.3%).
