Why Is This Important?
Increasing Chittenden County’s production of renewable energy will improve the cost effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of energy production, transmission, and distribution system and support the State’s goal of 90% renewable energy by 2050.
Note on Methodology
The amount of renewable energy generation capacity cited in this indicator deviates from the total renewable energy generation capacity the Department of Public Service reports for Chittenden County. The number reported in this indicator is a county number that is totaled up for each municipality in the County and counts generation based on where the facility is located. For example, only half of Georgia Mountain Community Wind is associated with the Town of Milton. The Department of Public Service reports 556,623 MWh for Chittenden County.
