Q1 2021

We delivered 12 speaker sessions via Zoom this quarter including clinical workshops for ASHM as well as a speaker representation on the ASHM Board Hepatitis C Sub Committee. Other speaker sessions included education sessions in prison settings such as Parklea and Miruma at Cessnock. Speakers contributed their lived experience stories to HNSW education sessions to Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW HARP and  Aboriginal Health workers to strengthen their confidence engaging in hep C conversations with people in their community. We trained a new Hep B experience speaker and they contributed their story to the filming of an interview with their treating clinician Prof Alice Lee, 20 years after their first referral. 

Q3 2020

We have had a very good response, 14 in total, utilising our HNSW produced speaker videos for promotional use, education sessions and external workshops.

We have a total of 4 videos available at this point; three HCV lived experience stories and one HBV. Another recording of a HBV story is in the planning stage as well as a HCV video where two speaker give their account to each other, in a discussion piece, of their individual and very different treatment experiences; one with the new DAAs compared to the other’s Interferon treatment.

Q2 2020

This quarter Covid-19 brought with it challenges that inspired innovation in alternatives in delivering speaker presentations. We produced our own videos of speakers’ lived experience stories, made these available to our partner organisations to be used for their training and education sessions. At the conclusion of viewing the video the speakers were available to join in via Zoom for Q&As with the group. This media of speaker presentations will continue to inspire inviting speakers to participate in rural and regional areas well into the future.

Q1 2020

The start to 2020 only saw 2 speaker presentation, one in each January and February. January's speake presentation was delivered to the largest to date group attending our in-house Get Bloody Serious training course. February's speaker presentation was delivered at the Penrith Hospital for a BBV training in the Nepean LHD.

Q4 2019:

There were 9 speaker requests for this quarter.  In December the number of speaker presentations fell well short of target due to the holiday and festive season. Demand is anticipated to increase in the coming months.

Q3 2019:

The third quarter witnessed an avarage of 8 speaker sessions delivered per month. Speakers were invited to present at events for ASHM GP training workshops at Coffs Harbour, Lismore, Newcastle, Brighton Le Sands, Campbelltown and Sydney CBD. Additional speaker presenations were delivered at the Hepatitis NSW (HNSW) Hepatitis Awarness Week forum, at a 'Yarnin About Hep C' capacity building training for South Western Sydney LHD Aboriginal workforce, education sessions delivered by HNSW at HNSW's Get Bloody Serious workshop, in the Hunter New England LHD at the Mater Hospital, Newcastle, in the South Sydney LHD in conjunction with Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network at Long Bay Prison. Speakers presented for health care workers in the South East Sydney LHD at Wolli Creek and Sydney CBD as well as for Western Sydney LHD education session for midwives at the Western Sydney University Clinical School, Nursing and Midwifery Research Centre, at the NUAA Peer Forum at the Teachers College, Surry Hills, as well as Hep B community events at Riverwood and Hurstville.

Q2 2019:

In this second quarter speaker sessions delivered remained at an avarage of 6 per month including sites such as Kempsey Prison, Cranes Community Centre at Grafton and clinical education sessions for ASHM. The annual training and increase in the number of speakers across NSW has already shown a strong uptake in requests for July 2019.

Q1 2019:

Trained speakers remain at a total of 12 until May 2019 when more speakers will join the program. HNSW is aiming to have at least 2 speakers in each NSW LHD for regional and rural education and information sessions.  The number of speaker sessions peaked in March 2019 at 17.  This is because there were frequently multiple sessions at the one event.  For example, there were 4 sessions delivered in Berrima as part of HiPE. Multiple sessions were delivered for Close the Gap at Kempsey Prison for the North West Northern Cluster, Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network as well as educational sessions to staff and residents in regional NSW - Murrumbidgee, and aboriginal rehabilitation centres at Orana Haven at Brewarrina nd Maayu Mali, Moree.

Q4 2018:

The number of speaker sessions across the final quarter of 2018 averaged 5 sessions per month taking the festive & holiday season toward December into consideration.

Q3 2018:

In the third quarter of 2018 speaker sessions delivered averaged 5 per month with the fourth quarter indicating an increase in confirmed speaker bookings.

Q2 2018:

The number of speaker sessions delivered in the second quarter witnessed a decline after bookings were cancelled due to  the event not reaching minimum numbers of participants.

Q1 2018:

The rise in the number of speaker sessions delivered this quarter included engagements with the Cancer Institute, Hepatitis Australia, the Western Sydney LHD, ASHM and Hepatitis NSW Get Bloody Serious workforce training events. 

Q4 2017:

In the final quarter of 2017 C-een & Heard speakers delivered their treatment experience stories to organisations such as Kingswood High, Berrima and Kirkconnell prisons, and to workforce on behalf of ASHM and training incentives in partnership with NSW Local Health District (LHDs).

Q3 2017:

In this third quarter we delivered 24 speaker sessions placing the program well on target for sessions delivered this financial year. Planned sessions for October 2017 have already exceeded the expected target of 7 sessions for the month.

Q2 2017

After a slow start to 2016-17 the C-een & Heard program saw a steady increase in speaker sessions attributed to the promotional drive and internal capacity building planning.

Q1 2017:

Internal capacity building planning in the educational team provided speaker opportunities with internal and external education sessions as well as further promotion to external partners has demonstrated an increase in speaker session deliveries

Q4 2016:

The decline in speaker sessions toward the end of the year displays a seasonal trend. All partners engaged in past speaker sessions have been reminded via email to accommodate a speaker presentation where possible in 2017.

Q3 2016:

The decline in speaker sessions can be attributed to end of financial year activities. At the end of future C-een & Heard speaker sessions the speaker will incorporate new promotional material for C-een & Heard, Hep Connect and the Let's talk counselling program.

Q2 2016:

The C-een & Heard program saw a steady increase in April (6) and a spike in speaker session booking and deliveries in May (13). We experienced a decline to speaker session booking and deliveries in June (8) which we believe was influenced by end of financial year activities.

Q1 2016:

We fell short of our targets in January and February due to seasonal influences such as the festive season and holidays whereas in March we have witnessed a steady upward trend in session numbers.

Q2 2015:

We have exceeded our target in October yet just narrowly falling short in November and December due to the recruitment and training of the Project Officer for C-een & Heard and Hep Connect programs during the month of November and subsequently the holiday season incurred some cancellations and we are waiting for reschedule dates.

Q1 2015: We have met our targets in July and August however we had no requests from external organisations for September. We delivered two stand alone sessions in September and two sessions as part of our Education sessions. We are working on a marketing plan targeting specific organisations and health care workers to increase our number of sessions. We currently have 9 sessions booked in for October.

Q4 2015:

Target of 75 under achieved: 66 sessions delivered. Focus on marketing and promotion of project in 15-16. New project officer commence June 29 2015.

Q3 2015:

No invitations from organisations or internal requests in February. In March we have seen a huge increase in number of sessions, from 0 in February to 10 in March, exceeding the baseline of 8. We had invitations to education sessions and from other organisations. Further promotion of education and C-een & Heard sessions is planned to increase in order to reach targets.

Q2 2014:

The curve has gone down in December as it is a slow month with many organisations ceasing service delivery so we did not get many invitations to give a talks. December is a short month due to holidays we also finish a week before the end of the month.

Q1 2014:

Our partners invite C-een & Heard speakers to give talks during their sessions. In July we had 1 invitation. We embarked on a marketing drive targeting our partners and have since an increase in the number of our sessions to 6 in August and September.
