Dartmouth-Hitchcock provides health care to Medicaid beneficiaries, and helps patients apply for Medicaid if they meet Medicaid requirements.  The number of patients who are Medicaid Beneficiaries has grown significantly over the past 10 years, in part because of NH's participation in Medicaid Expansion.  The drop in Medicaid patients in 2012 was due to a change in Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Fiscal Year, which caused this figure to reflect only 9 months of patient data.  Dartmouth-Hitchcock provides care for a very significant percentage of NH's Medicaid Beneficiaries, operating in many ways as a safety net provider of health care in the state.

This chart reflects patients provided with care at Dartmouth-Hitchcock locations in the southern NH region, including its Concord, Manchester, and Nashua clinics.  Through 2015, separate data systems were used to track patients cared for in Dartmouth-Hitchcock's southern NH clinics.  There is some unavoidable duplication of counts in this data - patients receiving primary care in Dartmouth-Hitchcock's southern NH clinics who obtain specialty care in Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Lebanon-based clinics, for example..
