Story Behind the Curve

FY23: Across all three sites funded in FY23 retention of teen participants was the most challenging aspect of program success. Many youth did participate but many did not graduate because they didn't attend enough sessions overall. All families reported improvements in family relationships overall so that is a good outcome despite a lower graduation rate for teens.

What Works

As only one cycle will be funded in FY24 (and we have not yet determined in which COH we will hold it) we are not certain of strategies yet. The populations for the three sites funded in FY23 are very diverse and would require different interventions. However, one thing we are considering across the board is the inclusion of a younger facilitator for the teen group to potentially increase their engagement. As we were able to train new facilitators in FY23 this one strategy will be easy to implement regardless of the location of the cycle.
