Story Behind the Curve

Working a minimum of 20 hours per week improves independence and decreases reliance on other means of support; for individuals with disabilities.

Partners include Change, DORS  and the local business community who have unmet employment needs that may be filled by individuals with disabilities.

What Works

Providing intensive career and personal exploration helps youth with disabilities find careers and jobs that give them the best chance for success.  This is not a quick process, and involves weeks of one on one support with a trained customized employment specialist.

Given the intensive and hands on nature of the customized employment model, it was anticipated that most clients would not begin working a minimum of 20 hours until the second half of FY 18.
