Story Behind the Curve
The purpose of these performance measures is to monitor the development and implementation of transportation and master plans in the community that are considered pedestrian friendly and promote walking.
Year 1:
9 communities had pre-existing transportation plans that promote walking. We worked with Sidney to improve their plan.
Communities that have transportation plan that promotes walking:
- Alliance
- Sidney
- Chadron
- Kimball
- Bridgeport
- Bayard
- Scottsbluff
- Gering
- Gordon
Year 2
In Year 2, we worked with Sidney and Scottsbluff/Gering. Because these 3 communities already had pre-existing transportation plans that promote walking, the number did not increase.

*Count the number of communities that have adopted/implemented master plans or specific transportation plans with supporting pedestrian language (street lighting, traffic calming, etc.).
* Data: # of cities, villages or CDPs that mentioned walking, trails, physical activity, and/or recreational activity in their most recent available Comprehensive Plan. Looked at the following plans in Year 1: Alliance (2009), Sidney (2012), Chadron (2014) Oshkosh (2001), Kimball (2002), Bridgeport (2012), Bayard (2003), Broadwater (2004), Scottsbluff (2014), Morrill (2012), Gering (1995), Gordon (2003), Harrison (1996).
