Story Behind the Curve

Q3 2020

There has been an increase in the number of calls related to hepatitis B enquiries this quarter averaging 18% per month.  This upward trend is due to an increase in community call enquiries around testing positive, immunisation and transmission. In addition, the Infoline respondent's conversation with callers from prison has intensified around engaging the callers around awareness to their HBV immunity status as well as caller's initiating enquiries on how to sign up for the vaccination.

Q2 2020

The number of calls related to hepatitis B enquiries this quarter ranged from 17% in April to 16% in June.  These percentages have seen an upward trend in this quarter, exceeding previous data estimates. This trend is due to the Infoline respondent's conversation with callers as to their HBV immunity status as well as caller's initiating enquiries on how to sign up for the vaccination. For the financial year 2019-20 the percentage of calls relating to HBV topics averages 13% per month

Overall the number of call received regarding hepatitis B decreased this quarter.  Ranging from 5% of callers in January to 7% of callers in February and March.

Q4 2018

Overall the number of call received regarding hepatitis B increased this quarter.  There is a perception that ongoing hepatitis B messaging to increase awareness and encourage testing and approximate management is having an impact.  It is not infrequent for people to ask about Hepatitis B and C on the same call.

Q3 2018

Overall the number of calls to the Infoline regarding hepatitis B were consistent with May and June in Quarter 2, and a little lower than previous quarters.  This is a result of a larger proportion of people calling from prison settings who are interested in information about hepatitis C.

Q2 2018

The number of calls to the Infoline regarding hepatitis B were lower this quarter, particularly over May 4% and June 3%.  As the number of calls relating to hepatitis C testing and treatment increased during May and June 2018 the number of calls relating to hepatitis B decreased.   There are occasions when hepatitis status is not disclosed, and calls received from people living with hepatitis B is likely under-estimated.

Q1 2018

The number of calls to the Infoline regarding hepatitis B remain steady and consistent with previous quarter increases - January 21%, February, 16.4% and March 16.7%.  Just over half of these calls related to hepatitis B vaccination.

Q4 2017

There has been a steady increase to 20% of calls being about hep B.

Q1 2017

Around 8% of calls to the InfoLine are about hepatitis B. With the new hep B projects we expect this to increase.
