We understand the income level of the Tahoe Truckee Community

Median household income (Nominal dollars)

What is this indicator?

Median household income data is collected by the United States Census Bureau. Median household income measures the level of income that half of all families are above and half of all families are below.

The red "Target" value shows California's median household income 2008-2012.

Story Behind the Curve

The Tahoe/Truckee median household income increased 11% between 2000 and 2010, from $54,975 to $61,932. Comparatively, the median household income in California in 2010 was $59,540. An increase in median household income shows growth in the local economy. However, an increase in the cost of living, including housing, utilities, childcare, transportation costs and other basic necessities, can outweigh the benefits of wage increases.
